Baby Steps!

Elliott took his first steps this week! We missed the very first ones - as he took them at daycare, but we have seen a couple other attempts since yesterday. They are still shaky and slow, but he'll be running in no time. I'll try for a video soon!

It's been pretty boring around here - we're just finalizing details for our big trip home ... and by 'details' - I mean what American restaurants we are going to visit first. We are definitely going to eat plenty of chicken wings, pizza and Mexican food!!

Yesterday Vic taught a nutrition class to the students at my school. It was organized by his unit, and yours truly ... and it was hilarious. Vic and the kindergartners were probably the highlight of my day. He was exhausted by the end, but he did a great job.

Hello!

I've been slacking on updates, but we haven't had much to report. With our upcoming trip to AMERICA - we're laying low, and just relaxing at home. Vic was gone for a week and a half, and came home right before Valentine's Day. He leaves in another couple of weeks, and will probably be gone up until we are ready to fly home for vacation. Life without him is a little rough - Eli gets confused, and misses his da-da! I definitely learn to appreciate him all over again when he's gone for these exercises.

We have managed to completely get rid of the bottle, and it has made life so much easier! Eli transitioned pretty easy, and the ladies at daycare were a huge help in the process.

School is going ok ... one of my classes ends this week, so I'll go down to a single class until the summer session starts. This is fantastic news - as I definitely bit off a little more than I can chew. I'm going to make sure to drop a couple of my extra-curricular activities before I attempt to do classes and a full-time job again.

Here are a few pictures from the past week or so ...

We are trying a lot of new recipes and foods ... he is getting less and less picky - and even learning to use a spoon. He did get one or two bites in his mouth ...

This was tuna-noodle casserole night. He took one bite, and then dumped the rest on his head. Apparently it wasn't his favorite ...

Roscoe learned very quickly that camping out under the highchair is a fantastic idea. There is no need for a mop and broom with him and Lola around ...

We bought this box to store some of Eli's toys in the living room. One of the first things he does when he gets home from daycare is dump all of the toys out (and not play with them, of course) and then sit inside the basket and watch 'Yo Gabba Gabba' ... or the Disney movie 'Bolt' - which he is mildly obsessed with.

This cracks me up. He has learned to climb onto the couch using this method, so he thinks it will work for everything else he is trying to climb into or on top of ...

Hilarious hat that my sister-in-law sent ... it's the only one that still fits at this point, and I refuse to buy anymore because Spring has to be right around the corner!!

I hope everyone is doing well, and hopefully we'll see most of you in a few short weeks!!!

More 1st Birthday!

Last weekend we had Eli's official birthday party. We didn't do anything big and fancy - just a few families, and some hot-dogs and hamburgers! Elliott didn't have a clue what was going on, but loved having kids in the house.

My lovely friend Vanessa made these great cupcakes ...

He made out like a bandit in the present department. He fell asleep before we could open them with guests, but he loved everything ...

Singing Happy Birthday ...

He dove right in - most of it ended up on the floor!

I still can't believe we have a one-year-old!

It looks like Vic's leave was approved for our trip back to the states!! We will be arriving in Virginia sometime before March 24th, and we are planning a quick trip to Indy from March 28th to April 2nd. I wish we could add in a stop to Florida, but time and our budget won't allow for that. If you don't live in either Virginia or Indiana - feel free to make a trip to see us - I don't think we will have a chance to come back until we're home for good in January of 2015! I was so excited about the leave getting approved, and now it's starting to settle in that we'll be traveling across the world with a one-year-old ... yikes ...

Everything is going well ... Elliott was banished from daycare last week for a rash and cooties that he picked up at daycare ... but he seems to be 100% and ready to go back on Monday. We are getting to the point where he has to have immunity against everything - I'm not sure what else there is for him to catch! I am really looking forward to this summer, and spending three whole daycare-free months with him!!
